Awsome stuff once again. I don't know how you get such natural looking pastels but I'll keep working at it cause god knows I'm no good with traditional media and I wouldn't even know what pastels to buy. A childrens book I discovered the other day has great pastels. It's called Osbert and the artists name (my new favorite artist now) is HB Lewis. http://www.bucklewis.com/

Becky - Yes, this was painted in Photoshop, as is most of my work.

Eric - I have version CS3. Although, it really doesn't matter because everything I do in CS3 can be done in earlier versions as well.

Karyn - Glad you like the texture. If you look closely, you'll see that it is just a photo of a water fountain in a park. You can see the palm trees in the background. Most of my textures are just photos, but I've also outlined other ways to create textures <a href="http://danidraws.com/2006/12/05/texture-how-to-make-better-art-with-jelly-beans/" rel="nofollow">here</a> and <a href="http://danidraws.com/2007/12/17/five-ways-to-create-textures-completely-in-photoshop/" rel="nofollow">here</a> if that helps.

Hey, Dani. Been following your blog for a while now. It's a total goldmine. I just adore your art, and I love seeing your process. Little things like that distressed/manipped photo you flipped upside down and used as the BG texture in this one - genius. I'd love to see you post more tut's on making textures.

Looking at this video on iTunes is great. These thumbnail images do this painting no justice at all. Anyone reading this post in my opinion, you have to see the video. Dani, I have two requests. Well, I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. It would be very helpful to hear explanations of what you're doing in these videos. I'm not really a novice but, I"m not an expert user of Photoshop. Please, consider explaining what you're doing. I use version 7. And, the second request is what code is used to lower the numbers after two capitol letters? For example, CS3 and CS4?

Becky, Dani used Photoshop. I think it is CS3 or CS4. Btw, your blog is beautiful. Your art is gorgeous. I'm seriouly thinking about finding my old watercolors and starting a one man SketchCrawl like Enrico Casarosa and get back to my non digital roots. Here's the website if anyone is interested in learning more. http://www.linesandcolors.com/2008/10/22/sketchcrawl-20/#comment-614387 I'll create some art of locations around where I live and post them on my blog.

Great work...I love your process, its always interesting to see artists at work. I think they in photoshop they should include a process capture feature similar to open canvas, I think it would just make it better.
