This is the cover of a promo booklet I’ve been working on. I’ve been covering the process over on my other blog (my latest post here). Comments, critiques, or suggestions for this image and the rest of the project are welcome.

As usual your illustrations are fun. You asked for a critique so here I go, I do like the font but I’m not a big fan of where is it placed. May be place is towards the top and behind the wolf, enlarge the pigs to fill more of the space at the bottom. Have you played with opening the wolf’s eyes at all? Oh and make sure that the pig on the right does not look like Piglet from Winnie the Phoo. Disney may have a cow about that. I like the straw hat for the pig that built the straw house. Is there anything you can go to incorporate sticks or a brick for the other pigs? Maybe a tick or leaf poking out of his clothing.
Good Job Dani.
I’ve said it on your other blog: the one with the glasses, in my honest opinion, resembles Bill Gates. But the rest is quite amazing, especially the wolf; he’s got a certain “evil despotic office boss” feel to him (maybe it’s the smart-looking waistcoat and shirt, along with the rat-like muzzle?), and that is definitely a good thing. In most versions of the book, he looks like a half-witted hillbilly who starts blowing at random times and wouldn’t hurt a fly. Yours has a lot more personality and actually looks dangerous. Also, the light works great on him.
I agree with Jared in the aspect that you should add a bit of the environment to the other two pigs. You could dress the one at the right in lumberjack gear, as to make it clear that he built his house out of wood chopped by himself; maybe it would also make him look less like Piglet. Regarding the text, I don’t see anything wrong with it. Font, placement and colour are all very well chosen.
Overall, remarkable work. I’m quite sure I would buy that book for my children if I had any.
Very nice Dani
really like the composition and scale
good work!!!!
Hi Dani,
I think your work is wonderful!! and I really like this one… I love the wolf’s beady eyes and the swirls in the background remind me of the wolf’s wind as he blows down the houses. A brilliant idea, and beautifully done!
